Leadville! The Return

This will be the first time I’ve been back to Leadville since the disaster of a race in August last year. We’re going up to Turquoise Lake for some camping as well as all the running, fishing, smores eating and such that we can fit in. I know a lot of people get a little anxious or down the first time they return to a place where they DNF a huge race but I’m really looking forward to getting back up there.

We’re planning on doing 13 to 18 miles tomorrow morning but I’m not sure where yet. Possibly part of the Silver Rush 50 course or the Leadville Marathon course. Maybe even just doing Powerline and some of Hagerman Pass Road to the west, just keeping it open until we know what everything is looking like!

We’ve got a huge group going besides CC and me. My sister and brother in law will be there as well as his sister and dad. Phil and Lauren and Liz will be up for their first Colorado camping trip (I think one more in their group too). We also found out today that Heather, Paula, and Heidi are camping about 10 miles south of us so we may have plan a late night party at the summit of Mt. Massive! Nick and Laurie will be up as well but they’re cool and have a real roof over their heads but we’ll drag them down to the campground! I know a few others will be around as well so let us know what your plans are and we can meet up!

Courtney and I have about a month until the Leadville Marathon and about 6 weeks until the Silver Rush 50 so we need as much time up high and on the trails as we can get. Expect us to be there every few weeks and let us know if you want to join us! You’ll get lots of views like this!
